Itinerary schedule:
Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and begin our journey, which will take approximately two hours to reach the town of Cusipata. There we’ll enjoy a nutritious breakfast before continuing our journey to Sicuani and then to the district of Layo, where the Pallay Mountain is located. In Layo, we’ll make a brief stop to get to know the town and its customs. Then, our vehicle will ascend for about 30 minutes until we reach the base of the mountain. We’ll then begin a two-and-a-half-hour hike to the sharp-edged Pallay Punchu Mountain, whose famous colored mountain pigments are due to a complex combination of minerals, marine, lacustrine, and fluvial sediments. Throughout history, these sediments were formed by layers of different lengths, resulting from the collision of tectonic plates in the area. These mineral bands ended up rising and transforming into the mountains we can see today. Subsequently, this mountain acquired its colors due to the same oxidation of its minerals, caused by the humidity and erosion of the area. The climate in the Pallay Punchu Mountain is cold and windy in the mornings, but in the middle of the day, you can appreciate a drier and sunnier climate. During the trip, you can observe beautiful landscapes and animals of the area. Additionally, very close to the Paylla Punchu mountain, you can appreciate the beautiful Langui lagoon, making this mountain look spectacular and a very attractive destination. After the visit, we descend to the town to have lunch in one of the local restaurants in Layo, where we’ll enjoy their varied cuisine based on Trout and Alpaca. Finally, we’ll be back in the city of Cusco, with an estimated return time of 6 pm. Overnight in Cusco – Own arrangement.
